Do: Be aware of the dress code

Dress approprately for the position that you are interested in. Typically, business attire is required. Be sure to dress professionally to show the employer that you are serious about the position. When it comes to meeting your employer, first impressions matter.

Don't: Hesitate

Employers are looking for candidates who will answer their questions honestly. Try not to hesitate, and answer their questions with a positive attitude. Remember that is is okay to take the time before answering a question, as long as you are confident with your answer.

Do: Be Unique

Employers are usually interviewing multiple candidates for one position. Among the other candidates, you want to stand out. In your interview, they to address your unique past experiences and characteristics that other candidates likely do not possess. Overall, just be yourself!

Don't: Be Agressive

Although you do want to show the employer that you are the perfect candidate for the job, you want to do this in the correct manner. Don't talk excessively about yourself, emphasize money, or make the employer feel threatened in anyway. This may give the employer the wrong impression.

Do: Be Prepared

Always plan to arrive at your interview approxiametly 10 to 15 minutes in advance. Organization and punctuality are skills that many employers will be looking for. In addition, come prepared with an extra copy of your resumé, a pen, and potential questions for the employer.
